Apply for Summer 2025 Doctoral Fellowships and Master’s and Undergraduate Internships in the MDRC Gueron Scholars Program

2024 Gueron Scholars with MDRC staff standing outside

In collaboration with The Policy Academies, MDRC is offering three opportunities in the summer of 2025 for graduate and undergraduate students in its Gueron Scholars Program: (1) up to two summer doctoral fellowships with stipends for Ph.D. candidates who are pursuing independent, self-directed research on economic and social problems affecting Americans with low incomes, (2) up to two full-time paid evidence-to-practice internships for students in master’s degree programs, and (3) up to four full-time paid undergraduate internships for rising seniors.

The internships and fellowships are supported by the Gueron Scholars Program, which seeks to engage and encourage individuals from groups that are underrepresented in the education and social policy research communities. Applications are open to all interested students.

Doctoral Fellowships: Recipients, who will receive a $10,000 stipend, will work on their doctoral dissertations — and will participate in the intellectual life of MDRC by attending seminars and project meetings and by working with MDRC research staff.

Evidence-to-Practice Internships: A paid eight-week internship for up to two master’s students who are interested in working with organizations at different stages of building evidence. This includes developing and implementing demonstrations and evaluations of programs designed to improve the well-being of those within underrepresented populations.

Undergraduate Internships: A paid eight-week internship for up to four rising seniors who are interested in learning about social or education programs, policies, and research.

The fellowships and internships are expected to begin in June 2025. MDRC is pleased to provide housing for all fellows and interns. Applicants invited to interview virtually will receive more information about this opportunity.

The application deadline for the fellowships and both internships is December 31, 2024.
